A decade of experience in prescribing hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin: A retrospective analysis of medication queries in a Saudi drug and poison information center


 Purpose: To analyze drug information queries related to treatment with hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), chloroquine (CQ), and azithromycin submitted a local poison center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
 Methods: This retrospective study explored HCQ-, CQ-, azithromycin-related inquiries the Drug Poison Information Center at Security Forces Hospital Program, Arabia. These were analyzed quantitatively qualitatively. The quantitative analysis included frequency of each request per year, profession requesters, source material classification. A thematic was also performed categorize requests from healthcare professionals.
 Results: received 10,685 usable between 2005 2018. There 160 queries. Most made by pharmacists (61.25 %). main sources used answer tertiary (92.31 %) primary (7.69 sources. In dataset, three major topics identified: administration dosing, safety, pregnancy lactation, associated query subset.
 Conclusion: results emphasize importance continued education on antimicrobial agents general, HCQ, CQ, particular. items have been identified as focus areas that policymakers can us ensure quality future medication prescriptions.
